In the 1950s the supply of goods began to outpace the demand, and marketing became identified with sellers chasing buyers. We can take this point of view and examine the marketing problems of sellers in a buyer's market.

Those who engage in the exchange process learn how to do it better over a period of time. In particular, sellers learn how to professionalize their marketing management. We define marketing as follows: Marketing management is the analysis, planning, implementation, and control of programs designed to create, build, and maintain beneficial exchanges with target buyers for the purpose of achieving organizational objectives.

The popular image of the marketing manager is that of someone whose task consists primarily of finding enough customers for the company's current output. This however is too limited a view of the range of tasks carried out by marketing managers. Marketing managers are concerned not only with creating and expanding demand, but also with modifying and occasionally reducing it. Marketing management seeks to influence the level, timing, and character of demand in a way that will help the organization achieve its objectives. Simply put, marketing management is demand management.

The organizations senior management forms an idea of a desired level of transactions within a primary market. At any point in time, the realized demand level may be below, equal to, or above the desired demand level. That is, there may be no demand, little demand, adequate demand, or overwhelming demand, and marketing management has to adjust to these different challenges.

Marketing managers are company representatives who are involved in market analysis, planning, execution, and control activities. This team includes sales managers and sales peoples, advertising executives, sales promotion specialists, marketing researchers, product managers, and pricing specialists.

Q. What does the franchise fee cover?

The franchise fee covers the cost of providing you with pre-opening and start-up assistance, initial training, and other support services necessary in opening the business. This fee also entitles you to: use of the 3M Pizza Pie name, trademarks and logo as well as access to the 3M Pizza Pie operating systems.

Q. How much is the royalty fee?

3M Pizza Pie will charge franchisees 5% of gross sales royalty fee which covers, ongoing business development, consulting, and other services during the term of the franchise.

Q. What do the systemwide and advertising fees cover?

Franchisees shall spend 1% of gross sales monthly for local advertising and promotion. There is also a systemwide contribution of 1% of your gross sales to a corporate advertising and development fund which will be used for newspaper, billboards, radio and TV advertising, direct mail and promotions in other media.

Q. Will we be given an operations manual?

Yes. As our franchisee you will receive a copy of the confidential Franchise Operations Manual. This comprehensive document details all the policies and procedures involved in running the 3M Pizza Pie business. You will be given your copy of the manual during the franchisee training prior to store opening.

Q. What training will we receive as franchisees?

The franchise owner and the designated personnel will be given extensive training both at the franchisor headquarters and company-owned outlets, as well as the franchisee's own store unit including a dry-run or soft opening. The training will cover store management, operations, procedures, food preparation, products and services including customer service. The training will be conducted within 10 days before grand opening of the franchisee store.

Q. What other continuing support will I receive?

As our franchisee, you will receive continuing support from us during the term of the franchise as follows:

1. Periodic field visits and quality checks of your outlet
2. Continuing guidance and business evaluation and consulting on any matter related to operating the 3M Pizza Pie food business.
3. Refresher trainings on new products and services
4. Access to bulk pricing on high quality products from the commissary and accredited suppliers

Q. Will I have an exclusive territory?

You will not be granted an exclusive territory. However, Franchisor will see to it that each site will service a population of 100,000 to the fullest to make the business viable.

Q. What is the term of the franchise agreement?

The initial term of the franchise agreement is three (3) years, renewable to two (2) additional terms of three (3) years each for a total of nine (9) years.

Q. Who will look for the location?

The franchisee mainly searches and proposes their store location. A vicinity map or sketch of the proposed location is submitted to the Franchisor for evaluation and approval.

If terms and conditions of the franchise are accepted, the date of formal signing of franchise agreement will be set.

STEP 3: Franchisee signs franchise agreement and submits signed document to Franchisor together with the franchise fee payment. Pre-opening activities, construction, training and other start-up activities begin.
