Direct Network Marketing - How to Coach Your Downline

Anyone in direct network marketing knows that in order to be successful you have to be very good at recruiting and building a productive downline. In most cases if you rely on just the marketing training that most network marketing companies provide, you will find them to usually be inadequate.

Experience in this business has shown that you have to quickly dispel the idea that someone doesn't have to do anything to make money. Unfortunately there are too many companies out there whose recruiting message is based on the idea that building the business is easy or they will do everything for them. If someone joins your opportunity, be honest with them upfront. To be successful is going to require some effort. Hopefully this will help to quickly weed out the laggards so you don't waste your time and theirs.

The next thing you want to do is provide them with a realistic step by step approach to follow based on what you have done to be successful. This is that often talked about "duplication" effort. Building a roadmap for them based upon what you know has worked for you, will go much farther than some general training program on how to build a downline that the company might provide.

Here's what I have done for my downline in the past. I've built a step by step program for them to follow. I've found that you have to have a web presence for any kind of success in direct network marketing today. So I laid out a detail approach of how to get a website up and running. This included how to register a domain name, how to find a good hosting service, what tools to use to build the content itself (e.g. how to install Wordpress) and how to build meaningful content based on keyword research.

I laid out a complete approach for getting traffic and list building. I showed them how and why list building is so critical to having a meaningful presence on the web. I showed them what it takes to start branding themselves as someone to trust and follow. Next, I laid out an approach for email marketing and how to go about promoting the direct network marketing opportunity to build their own downline.

I explained how becoming an affiliate marketer would provide multiple streams of income in addition to the business opportunity they were promoting. I showed them another reason for building a list and establishing a trusted relationship with their subscribers.

If you look at this approach and say to yourself - "that takes a lot of time and effort" - you're right. It took time and effort to put the program together the right way. But believe me it was worth it. Once it was together it could be delivered by autoresponder to everyone who joined my team. Any questions were handled by email. Additional material was available on my website or I pointed them to some specialized training that I had used and found very helpful in specific areas. This is a worthwhile effort that will pay for itself very quickly. Try it and you'll be able to provide valuable coaching to your downline.
